| This is the Circling Ghosts for 2006. I decided to go a bit lighter with the frame and easier to install. |
| The parts you will need are 1/2" PVC, 4 end caps, 1 cross piece, 1 eyebolt, 5 RPM mirrorball motor, small piece of wood, muffler strapping, and ghosts of course. |
| I measured the length of the old fan blades, and ended up 4 with 17" pieces of PVC. Those were glued to the cross piece, and then a hole was drilled in the center, large enough to fit the eyebolt through. |

| The motor was bolted to a small piece of plywood. Don't just use wood screws, you don't want to take a chance on everything crashing down in the middle of trick or treat. |

| Well, after all my hard work, this system didn't work quite how I wanted it to. On the trial run Halloween night, the wind blew just a bit too hard and the PVC cross piece, ghosts and all, came crashing down. The cross piece was way too close to the tree branch, and the pvc got caught and spun right off the hook. But I think I have found a solution. The diagram below shows my fix. I will be trying this on Halloween 2007. |
| The mirror ball motor is still connected to the plywood base. I will remove the original hook and screw a flat steel rod to the connecter hole on the bottom. I think the length should be about 8-10 inches for the best clearence. Then connect the PVC cross piece to the bottom of the rod with another screw. If I make sure both screws are nice and tight this will act as an extention of the original connecter. There should be no more wobbling and coming off. Come Halloween 2007, I'll post to let you know if it worked. |
